Democracy: Strength in the common people.

Democracy – The system of government where the people govern the state.

The word came to English from a French word ‘démocratie’ which joined our language in about the 14th century. ‘démocratie’ comes originally from the Greek word ‘demokratia’ which is made up of two words; ‘demos’ meaning ‘common people’ and ‘kratos’ meaning ‘strength’.
