Communist – From French ‘commun’

Communist – A person who follows the philosophy of communism.

Thr word ‘Communist’ came to English in 1841, from the French word ‘communiste’ which is a variant of ‘commun’ meaning ‘common’. It was first used in its politically ideology sense in 1841 by John Goodwin Barmby.
