Kettle – Cooking vessel

Kettle – A metal container used for heating water.

‘Kettle’ has evolved from the old English word ‘cetil’ and referred to any vessel for boiling or heating liquids over fire. It can be traced back through Proto-Germanic where it was ‘katilaz’ to the Latin word ‘catillus’ which really meant any vessel for cooking.
