Energy – The capacity for work.

The word ‘Energy’ comes from the French word ‘énergie’ and travelled to English in around 1590 CE. ‘Énergie’ comes from the Greek word ‘energeia’ which meant ‘ativity’ and was a variant of the earlier Greek word ‘energos’ which comined the word ‘en’, meaning ‘at’ with ‘ergon’ meaning ‘work’.
