Piggy back – nothing to do with pigs

Piggyback – A ride on someone’s back and shoulders.

Why pigs? Well actually, the word has nothing to do with the animals at all, it’s a derivative of the phrase ‘pick-a-back’ which was used in the 1560s with pick having derived from ‘pitch’ meaning ‘to place’
