Rabbi – My master

Rabbi – A Jewish scholar or teacher, especially one who studies or teaches Jewish law.

Rabbi has been in the English language since the late 15th century, originally it came from the Arabic word ‘rabh’ meaning ‘master’ the ‘I’ at the end is the same we use today as the personal pronoun – So literally, Rabbi means ‘My master’.
